Northamptonshire Wedding
"Food. We want truly exceptional food. And drinks. Life is too short for cheap wine. And gorgeous flowers." I couldn't get onboard more with Emily & Tom's brief for their Northamptonshire wedding. Which meant that catering came before anything else, in the form of the delightful Ross & Ross Events.
The menu consisted of canapés and an oyster station during the drinks reception; followed by a seated meal with sea trout tartare, and shaved lemon fennel to start; sharing board mains with rosemary stuffed leg of lamb, boulangère potatoes and jus served with bowls of seasonal garden vegetables; and chocolate tart with salted caramel peanuts to finish. Later on, the flowing drinks were mopped up with roaming cheddar cheese and chutney toasties.
The flowers - the very important flowers - were beautifully created by the magnificent Jenni and her team at Liberty Lane. A little wild, a little delicate, from a statement arch at the church, to another statement piece at the venue, with the most ethereal bowl arrangements on the tables, Emily's flowers were pure art. Beautifully highlighted, of course, by my favourite Ester & Erik candles. (Nonsense fact: Jenni was the one who taught me how to best arrange candles on a round table, something both florists and stylists can struggle with!)
The wedding ceremony was held in church in Kings Sutton, Northamptonshire, with the September sky looking moody, but without a single drop of rain, photographer Stephen Walker had a rich palette to work with. Ste was an absolutely delight to work with, and did a fantastic job capturing the lovely morning getting ready, the church, lots of emotions and moments, but not neglecting couple portraits and those beautiful details, particularly that amazing wedding tablecape.
As it happens, Emily & Tom met on Tinder - hence the table names being various dating sites - and their love story is one of many I've had the pleasure of witnessing starting with a perfect match via a trusted algorithm. I have no doubt that their Northamptonshire wedding was the most gorgeous start to their happily-ever-married.
