Christmas Wedding

Marquee Wedding in Northamptonshire

Hollie & George were originally meant to have their Christmas wedding at home in Northamptonshire in December 2020. You'll therefore understand why they postponed to Christmas 2021, and the trials and tribulations they experienced in the lead-up to their day! The biggest change from one year to the next was that their original tipi provider, Papakata, went bankrupt, which meant they played it safe with a friend's marquee business instead, with a classic clearspan marquee.

Hollie's family, and Hollie herself, are all talented artists with incredible eyes for colours, style, shape and form, so Hollie knew all along that she wanted to be very hands-on in the making and creating of her wedding. From moss-covered candelabras to vintage-style present sacks under elaborately clad Christmas trees, there wasn't a detail that didn't have Hollie & George's stamp on it. They also understood how important it was to incorporate scent, so an abundance of The White Company's 'Winter' candles were dotted around the marquee, which added to the warm Christmas wedding atmosphere.

But it was not only decorations Hollie turned her hand too. She also designed her red wedding dress and cape in collaboration with her seamstress (whose name is a well-guarded secret!) and did her own hair & makeup.

It made for a beautifully calm morning, with Hollie and her mum and sisters all getting ready together, and with her sisters being her bridesmaids, she was gorgeously flanked by them in their ivory bridesmaid dresses throughout the day. The Northamptonshire village church was packed with wedding guests, but it didn't stop a very good turnout of villagers to be there to greet them on their way out of the church. After a generous confetti throw, George had the cold-sweat-inducing task of driving (mastering?!) his now father-in-law's vintage Jaguar back to the house and marquee, while guests walked the narrow streets back - and I made a quick dash across the alpaca field, which got me there ahead of everyone else!

Generous amounts of canapés, cold Champagne, 'Winter'-scented air, vintage music performed by Revival, and a warm marquee, greeted guests on arrival back at the house, and when Hollie & George joined their guests after group photos - perfectly captured by fabulous London photographer Dom - the atmosphere was positively electric. More wow-moments followed, not least the Champagne sabrage [opening the bottle with a saber], before the feasting started, speeches were made and everyone, and I mean everyone, hit the dance floor. Truly, this Christmas wedding infused every soul there with Christmas spirit, and as guests piled into taxis or teetered off down the path to their houses, just know that this marquee wedding in Northamptonshire was one of the best I've ever experienced.
